Mat has been the pastor at FBC Gadsden since July 2012. He’s a graduate of the University of Mobile (B.A. in Theology and Humanities, 2008) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div, 2013). Mat is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Whitney, love living and raising their three children in Gadsden. The Alexander family loves Etowah County and have enjoyed putting down roots through serving First Baptist and the community. Mat and Whitney enjoy cooking, watching sports, reading, traveling, and playing with their dog.
Mat says, “My favorite part of serving First Baptist Church is the loving community that we get to be a part of. I am the pastor, but I and my family are loved like one of the flock. It is an honor to preach to people that you love and who love you in return. I get to show God’s people the glory of Christ from the entire Bible week in and week out. It is a privilege that I do not take lightly.”
